CCHL Recap | Colts Advance and Nationals Win Thursday Evening

Ottawa, ON – Thursday evening the Cornwall Colts won against the Hawkesbury Hawks, 6-2 therefore the Colts advance to the second round. On the other side, the Rockland Nationals won against the Renfrew Wolves with a final score of 4-3 in overtime.

F | Renfrew 3 Rockland 4 (OT)

The first period remained scoreless, setting the stage for a tense matchup. Rockland surged ahead in the second period with goals from Kai Stothers and Josh O’Connor. However, Renfrew rallied in the third period, with Kai Billey, Owen Grainger, and Noah Vom Scheidt finding the back of the net, countered by Anthony Hall for Rockland. In overtime, Mathis Bedard sealed the victory for Rockland. Goaltenders Viacheslav Gordeichuk of Renfrew and Benoit Forget of Rockland showcased their skills with Gordeichuk making 29 saves and Forget making an impressive 37 saves

F | Hawkesbury 2 Cornwall 6

The first period saw Ethan Montroy netting 2 goals for Cornwall, countered by Alexis Billequey’s goal for Hawkesbury. In the second period, Cornwall extended their lead with goals from Tristan Miron, Nathan Garnier, and Adam Walker, with Noah Leithman scoring for Hawkesbury. Luc Beliveau added another goal in the third period for Cornwall. In goaltending, Hawkesbury’s Dimitri Pelekos made 15 saves before being replaced by Caleb Chabot, who made 9 saves. Cornwall’s Donald Hickey stood strong, making 27 saves to secure the win for his team.
